Watch over his shoulder as Aaron Blaise experiments drawing a leopard in charcoal. He does this on a piece of wood in real time.

In this brief, easy to follow course which totals just over 1 Hour, animator, director and wildlife artist Aaron Blaise (“Brother Bear”, “Beauty & The Beast”, “Mulan”, “The Lion King”) shows you his approach to one of his favorite mediums, Charcoal. At the same time he shares his thoughts as he explores using the medium in a new context for him. This is a great opportunity to “get inside” Aaron’s head and learn his thought process when tackling something unfamiliar.

Watch as Aaron experiments, explains his process and even makes mistakes… some of which turn out to be “happy accidents” and part of the artistic process. Don’t be afraid to experiment and go put some beauty out into the world!

    You will learn:

How & when to use different types of charcoal
    Rough Sketching
    Drawing Light & Shadows
    Working with Kneaded Eraser
    Working with charcoal powder
Using “white” charcoal & white conte crayons
PLUS you’ll also get bonus material including:
High-Res Copy of the final image
Art Supply List – Everything used to make this image.
