Computer based lighting simulations software company Seequent has revealed major new point release of KeyShot 11 that includes native support for Mac computers with Apple silicon (beta) plus several powerful new workflow capabilities and over 75 bug fixes.

    What's New in KeyShot 11.2
    KeyShot on Apple Silicon
KeyShot 11.2 is a pivotal release that introduces the eagerly anticipated ability to run KeyShot on the latest generation of Macs with Apple silicon chips (including M2 and M1 Pro/Max/Ultra). If you have a newer Mac with Apple silicon, you will experience a 15-30% performance gain in both rendering and overall usability (compared with x86-64 translation performance).
KeyShot 11.2 will install two application packages, one for the previous Rosetta 2/Intel architecture and one for the new arm64/Apple silicon architecture. New analytics tools in KeyShot 11.2 enable the development team to monitor the stability and performance of the beta version before moving it into production full-time in the next 11.3 release. (Performance monitoring is captured without recording any personal user data, and the feature can be turned on or off in the KeyShot Preferences menu at any time.)
    KeyShot Web Viewer Update
Along with the release of KeyShot 11.2, we bring a substantial update to KeyShot Web Viewer (available with a KeyShotWeb subscription). KeyShot Web Viewer now provides added Studio support, allowing you to switch between Environments and Cameras, improved transparent materials with support for absorption, reflections, and refractions, a new bloom effect, two-finger swiping to pan the camera, and improved material accuracy when baking (in some cases).
Other new features and improvements include:
-New Pantone 2022 colors- including the Pantone Color of the Year (Very Peri) added to the KeyShot Color Library.
-Keyframe animation updates- adjust keyframes without interfering with the rendering in the Real-time View
-Mesh Simplification updates- retain Normals and UVs after Mesh Simplification
-3D Paint updates- improved quality when changing 3D Paint texture resolution.
-Workflow automation updates- including support for scripting material information data, the ability to use scripting to render CMF documents, as well as detection of headless and GUI-only features.
-Real-time View updates- including improved performance when dragging and dropping materials onto objects in the Real-time View
-Import/Export updates- including support of binary data in glTF, native Onshape import and new SketchUp and Cinema 4D plugins with Apple silicon support (requires 11.2)
    - Plus over 75 bug fixes

    New Features
    - Added a scene name text field in the upload dialog for the KeyShot Web Viewer.
    - Added ability to render CMF documents using scripting.
    - Detect headless and GUI-only features used in Python scripts.
    - Added checkbox "Enable experimental features" to Preferences.
    - Improved quality when changing 3D paint texture resolution.
    - New Pantone 2022 colors.
    - MacOS app to optionally run KeyShot as arm64 arch.
    - Improved performance when dragging and dropping materials onto objects in the realtime view.
    - Added support for retaining Normals after Mesh Simplification.
    - CATIA V5 3D Read: V5-6R2022 (R32); Parasolid 3D Read: V34.1; UG NX 3D Read: NX 2007, NX 2008, NX 2011, NX 2015
    - Added support for importing Maya 2023 files.
    - Upgraded to using Qt 6.2.4.
    - Improved JWT error.
    - Added a button to the Upload Dialog that links to your Cloud Page, and one that refreshes the display of your remaining Cloud Storage.
    - Added support for retaining UVs after Mesh Simplification.
    - Optimization: manipulation of keyframe animations is now faster and will not block the rendering in the real-time view.
    - Instead of having to package first, and then upload, the Upload Dialog now just requires a single Upload step.
    - Fixed an issue where bumps were not imported correctly when importing gltf/glb files.
    - Added support for embedded binary data in gltf files.
    - Localize Scene Contents will now ask for folder to use for resources.
    - Fixed a crash when creating new model sets in the Configurator.
    - Fixed an issue where light gizmos would not update when switching the material type.
    - Fixed an issue where KeyShot would crash when rendering a queue on MacOS.
    - Fixed an issue that caused GPU Geometry Setup to take longer than expected.
    - Fixed an issue where importing many materials at once would result in an invalid format error.
    - Added Textures folder in Preferences for FBX files importer.
    - Added folder for embedded textures when importing FBX files.
    - Fixed a crash when attempting to use Mesh Simplification on non-triangle mesh parts.
    - Fixed an issue where using the Re-tessellate tool would break .pvz models.
    - Fixed issue where thumbnails in the queue were not displayed correctly.
    - Clear coat AxF materials should now look more correct.
    - Users can cancel the process of closing holes in the Close Mesh tool.
    - Fixed a case where AxF textures would appear too dark.
    - Fixed an issue where the move tool could be drawn behind objects in the the scene.
    - Fixed an issue where the Geometry View would pan backwards while holding scroll wheel down.
    - Fixed a bug when subsequently sending a SolidWorks motion study into an existing scene.
    - lmborrow is now included again.
    - Fixed GPU issue for advanced materials with fresnel disabled.
    - Fixed GPU issue for direct lighting for rough materials using bump.
    - Fixed the issue where GPU crashes when using GPU mode while using measured materials.
    - Fixed the issue where the GPU mode is disabled after adding geometry to a scene with geometries included.
    - Fixed switching the rendering technique from interior mode to product mode, after importing a geometry for scenes with geometries.
    - Fixed an issue where the Reflection Render Passes in GPU mode give black output.
    - Fixed the issue where the Bump thumbnail wasn't showing the uploaded texture map.
KeyShotis the first real-time ray tracing application that uses a physically correct render engine based on scientific research in the areas of scientifically accurate material representation and global illumination. Addressing the visualization needs of designers, engineers, marketing professionals, photographers and CG specialists, KeyShot breaks down the complexity of creating photographic images and animations from 3D digital data.
